Birthday spiral out the way for another year, the month of May was all about trying to look forward. My partner and I have been slowly renovating our house for nearly 5 years now but we seemed to make a lot of headway in May. I can’t wait to share the details once things are finished. But the big transformation magic of completing long awaited house projects definitely helped spur me on through the month. Along with the smaller (but no less important!) magic below…
💟 the small magic of fantasy fashion —
Bronwyn Emma on YouTube shared a video about making elven loungewear. Literally what Arwen from LOTR would wear whilst curled up on the sofa reading a book with a cup of coffee. *Pause for gasps*
She created the most stunning two piece, featuring silvery purple soft material with lace trimming, that moved and flowed like it was magic.
It completely rewired my brain. I have always known that people can dress how they want… I guess I just didn’t think it could be so specific??? And I love it very much!
It’s made me want to try dressing up like a cosy mermaid. Or a bookish elf. Or a hobbit who owns a bakery. Or a banshee who owns a bar. The options are endless!
🧜🏼♀️ the small magic of fables —
A couple of months ago, I picked up Furies. It’s a collection of short stories centred around the term virago and it’s various meanings. Published by… you guessed it, Virago. Some of my favourite authors are involved like Emma Donoghue and Helen Oyeyemi and I’m excited to read more.
A brief one this month. My right eye is currently swelled shut from an infection of some kind (yuck, I know). Luckily I wrote most of this earlier on but I’m not able to spend time adding to it. Will June be the small magic of antibiotics? Tune in next month to find out!
🔮 in the crystal ball —
Vol. 3 of The Lantern Diaries is on it’s way… As soon as I can remove my homemade eyepatch.
I hope your June is full of wonder and magic ✨
